TCA RELEASES INITIAL IAP ENROLMENT FIGURES

Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA), the company administering the Intelligent Access Program (IAP), has today publicly released initial IAP uptake figures.

TCA is pleased to announce that the early August 2009 figures indicate there are 1,785 vehicles representing nearly 300 Transport Operators currently registered with the IAP. Of those, 626 are fully equipped and being monitored, whilst the balance are undertaking commercial negotiations and/or installations with IAP Service Providers. The rate of industry uptake has been steadily increasing with the number of vehicles doubling during the May to July 2009 period.

TCA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Koniditsiotis said "These figures demonstrate both the robustness of the program and indicate that the industry is embracing the IAP with increased momentum, as Transport Operators come to better understand the program and its associated commercial benefits.

"We have been pleased to see that the operators taking up the IAP cover a broad cross section of the operator marketplace with a good representation of small operators through to some of the country s largest freight operators.

"We are particularly pleased with the initial take-up, given Transport Operators have recently been understandably prudent in their investments and business strategies in response to the Global Financial Crisis. We have witnessed a number of Transport Operators choosing to signup part of their fleet to the IAP with plans to register more vehicles in the future. This has been part of what has been a commercially astute business approach by many operators."

TCA has witnessed a significant increase in Transport Operator requests for information on IAP and its use. TCA encourages those Transport Operators not yet enrolled in the program to contact an IAP Service Provider in order to determine the role and/or benefits of IAP for their business.

There are currently four IAP Service Providers Transtech Driven Partnership, Minorplanet Pty Ltd, OmniSTAR Pty Ltd and Transport Compliance Services Pty Ltd.
