Improve profitability with the IAP //

What does the IAP offer? //

The IAP provides the potential for logistic companies and companies using logistic services to achieve productivity gains, better turnaround times and increased profits – possibly creating an advantage over competitors. It also has the potential to assist companies to demonstrate their commitment to meeting their chain of responsibility obligations.

The introduction of more innovative freight vehicles and processes has allowed the freight industry to better manage its logistical operations by carrying more freight, making fewer vehicle movements, reducing double-handling and the like. However, not all parts of the road network can accommodate such vehicles.

In responding to this, the IAP provides for the opportunity for innovative freight vehicles to obtain enhanced access to the road network by providing road authorities with compliance assurances.

Under the IAP, participating vehicles are monitored for compliance using telematics services with an in-vehicle unit (IVU) supplied and operated by an IAP Service Provider. In addition to supplying IAP services, IAP Service Providers may also provide other services such as fleet management.

Chain of responsibility requirements in road transport laws now mean that all parties in the road transport supply chain can be held responsible for breaches of road laws and may be legally liable. Participating in the IAP and being independently monitored for compliance is one way of demonstrating a commitment to operating responsibly.

By participating in the IAP, or requesting your transport company to be part of the IAP, you may be able to deliver a better service and price to your customers.
